To achieve excellent results in process simulation, you need exact knowledge about the materials which are processed through your virtual plant. How do these materials behave, and which are the effects caused by them for the production system? What, for example, are the fluid characteristics of a substance transported through your plant, and how do these characteristics influence the units involved, e. g., the power consumption or the failure probability of a pumping system.

Such information is now available for process simulation software, since a middleware standard for importing thermodynamical material data has been developed: CAPE-OPEN (Computer Aided Process Engineering). It allows the integration of physical and thermodynamical data pools into the simulation in order to compute material properties. The new INOSIM Cape-Open Interface extends our tools by data and calculation methods taken from scientific databases. To you, that opens a broad new range of application options:
  • To define molar mass, heat capacity, and density while defining components and materials for the simulation, use data from the database.
  • To define material data like boiling temperature or enthalpy of vaporization for the simulation, for the parametrization apply data from the database.
  • Use rigorous models from the model library which depend on the calculation of phase equilibria.
  • Extend your model library by user-defined rigorous models.
  • Besides the import of material data and phase equilibria, INOSIM Cape-Open Interface also allows the derivation of material data.
